Chaos Diagnosis

Find where time is being lost. An audit based on conversations with your team, data, and real measurements of activities. A way to learn where change should begin.

Ctrl+F for your company — finding work that needs no decisionfound: 11 points

What we usually find

What a typical audit reveals.

Your numbers will be different — but they'll be calculated the same way, using your data.

53 h

Hours in one process

That's how much work one process eats up monthly — here, purchasing and cost invoices.

27 h

With no decision at all

Tasks where a person resolves nothing — these are where we start.

3

Different values for one figure

Depending on the system, the same figure has a different value.

18%

Cases outside the pattern

Exceptions handled manually because the official process doesn't cover them. Is that percentage still an exception?

When it makes sense

You know something is wasting time, but you can't point to where.
The data exists, but is scattered across systems and files — nobody sees the whole picture.
The previous implementation didn't deliver what was promised.
You aren't collecting data yet, but know decisions can't be made without it.

What it looks like

Four weeks, four steps.

Choose a week to see what happens in it.

Week 1

Interviews

We talk to the people doing the work — not just management. We ask about specific situations from recent weeks, not opinions. That's when people say things that aren't in any procedure.

What is produced this week
  • A list of the process's real steps and what they look like
  • Points where the process waits on someone's response
  • The roles that hold knowledge about the process

Order of magnitude

Calculate one of your processes.

Choose a process, enter how many people work on it and how many hours it takes them each week. See how much time technology could save.

Process

Reading invoice data, the approval flow and posting to the ERP can be automated almost entirely. A person stays on exceptions and amount decisions.

After organising40 h / month

Technology typically removes around 62% of the work in this process. This is an order of magnitude, not a promise — measurement in your company gives the real number.

Let's check it against the evidence

What you keep

Four things that stay with you.

Not a presentation about the potential of AI. Documents you can take to any supplier.

01

Process map

The real flow, not the one in the manual. With manual-work points and places where someone waits for someone else clearly marked.

02

Calculated losses

Monthly hours in every step, based on a document sample rather than a survey. Decision work and non-decision work shown separately.

03

Directions for change

The places where technology can genuinely improve the process and a shortlist of solutions that integrate well. Including what you can do yourselves, without us.

04

What to watch for

What to check when selecting a solution: how it integrates, what it genuinely changes, and what it does not promise. The report is yours, whoever implements it.

The rule

The diagnosis is paid for and deliberately separate from implementation. If the report shows you don't need AI, we'll say so directly — that's often the reason the audit pays for itself.

  • The report belongs to you
  • No obligation to implement with us
  • NDA before the first conversations

Questions

Five frequently asked questions.

ALT

Not seeing your question? ALT knows how we work and will answer straight away — including when the answer is “this is not a task for AI”.

Ask ALT
How much time will this take from my team?

A few short conversations spread over four weeks, plus handing over a data sample. We don't ask you to fill in spreadsheets or prepare reports for our sake.

Do we have to share sensitive data?

No. We can work on a data sample that can be anonymised — we're interested in the structure and volume of operations, not document content. We sign an NDA before the first conversation.

What if we decide not to implement anything after the diagnosis?

The report is yours and includes pointers on what to look for when choosing a solution — including ours. You can act on it at any time: yourselves, with us, or with another vendor.

Isn't this just an IT audit?

We check the technology layer — applications, work environments, data flow between systems. But we also assess the work of the people around those systems, because that is usually where the chaos lives.

We already have an ERP. Does that change anything?

Usually for the better. The data exists, it just isn't always used. A common outcome is switching on what you already paid for.

Start with four minutes, not four weeks.

Chaos Scan will show whether a diagnosis makes sense for your company at all.
